Tales of Geodes

Centuries ago when the best tools humanity had were sticks and stones, the geode islands were merely islands. With nothing very special to note. Dragons had not yet settled the island, no one lived on it. It was merely a travel point. A place many dragons would pass through on their way to Kartok, even the elusive water dragons of the depths came to rest on the island.

One day a fire dragon and water dragon came to rest on the island. They met and it clicked for them. They decided they should be mates. Over time they introduced each other to their family and friends and planned a mating ceremony to happen on the isle they met.

However there was a goddess who lived on the island who saw the two meet. Peleri the goddess of fire, a goddess from the age of creation. She did not believe the love the two shared would last the coming centuries that dragons are well known to live. The pair disagreed and went on a journey to search for Drakor.

The friends of the pair however were outraged. The god drakor never really cared about dragonkind. No one ever knew definitively where he was and the pair would be forever in his debt if they asked. So the friends of the pair went to peleri and pleaded the couples case.

Peleri refused to listen, trying to leave the island to go elsewhere but the friends chased her down, making their flying like dancing to catch her attention while they pleaded the couple's case. Peleri did her best to ignore them but eventually she relented.

“If the couple can dance together as beautifully as you two have while chasing me down I will do it. However the two will have to live on my island so I might see whether one who lives in the deep and one who lives in fire can truly be together.” Peleri decreed, finally convinced skeptical about what the couple would show her.

After the declaration the pair in fact did live on the island and Peleri ate her words. Not only did the couple last but from then on the descendants of the couple have lived on the island. The sights of the island at night are nothing short of breathtaking because every night old eggshells that the descendants use to decorate the nests glow as if the stars settled on the island itself.

Now even centuries later a special mating ceremony takes place on the islands with Peleri declaring the mates, the mated pair along with the best man and woman dance together as a means of sharing the story of the geode islands founding.
