The Seekers

The Seekers are a religious order dedicated to seeking and understanding the language of the first ones. Long after the people of Arasram had given up belief in the First Ones as a hoax, the Seekers continue to search. They proselytize in a church deep within the cave system of Oberheim, far from the prying eyes of visiting pirates and wayward travelers.
    Seekers spend much of their time combing the desert surface for any signs of the previous civilization. They oversee digs and excavations into caves when found. Their efforts have mapped a sizeable portion of the planet’s surface, though their lack of discovery has further pushed the faith to the fringes of society.
    The head of the faith is an heir to the one who originally found the stone tablet during her desert walk. She’s also a distant heir to Dread Pirate Oberths himself and is still highly respected within the community of Oberheim, despite her spiritual beliefs. During her early life, her siblings often pleaded with her to give up the faith and become a proper leader within the township, but their heresy filled her with righteousness.
    Eventually, as her brothers and sisters joined the city council, she grew to lead the church. She despised their lack of faith and worked ever more fervently to show them the way. Except for one of her brothers, he left the planet entirely. She respected his decision; he was a Seeker in his own right and believed who would find success where she had failed thus far.
    She used her name and deep-rooted connections to the power structure of the city to expand her influence over the people. She believed they just needed more seekers. Her goal was to reinvigorate the faith within the community, and possibly risk heresy by welcoming off-world travelers to the cause.
